Dr. W. David Pan is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 2002.

His main research interests include image/video processing and compression, channel coding, motion estimation, pattern recognition/classification, remote-sensing data (including radar, satellite, and hyperspectral) processing.

He is the recipient of the ETRI Journal Paper of Year Award in 2006. He received the College of Engineering Outstanding Junior Faculty Award from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2008. He was awarded the Summer Faculty Research Fellowship from the Office of Naval Research (ONR) in 2008, 2009, and 2011. He has over 70 refereed journal and conference publications. He is a senior member of IEEE.
